On September 11, 3019, our President Yraida Guanipa and Vice President Elina Lopez attended The Road to Re-Enfranchisement: Advancing Rights Restoration Symposium by The Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University Law School. This event was about how felony disenfranchisement removes the rights of people, specifically voting, and how best to approach re-establishment. Felony disenfranchisement is when a person who has been incarcerated for more than a year and/or a fine larger than $1,500 and loses their rights. The Brennan Center’s Voting Rights and Elections Program advocates for building a strong community all across the country.

Presented is a quote from our President Yraida Guanipa saying “The right to vote means power to make changes, to protect democracy, to speak loudly without needing to raise one’s voice, and to guarantee peace for future generations.” She believes that everyone deserves second chances at life and improving our families, communtites, and nation.
Some of the speakers are presented here. The wonderful speakers of the symposium are:
Alexes Harris, Andrew Warren, Anthony Dixon, Benjamin Cardin, Dauras Cyprian, Eliza Sweren-Becker, Esther de Rothschild, Holly Harris, Jena Marie Griswold, Jhody Polk, Jim Liske, Juan Cartagena, Justin Allen, Matt Hogan, Michael Waldman, Myrna Pérez, Patrick Berry, Patty Kuderer, Phil Murphy, Rachel Anderson, Sarah Walker, and Sean Morales-Doyle.
